iCONX is proud to share that our colleague, Ger Ryan, recently presented at a high-impact workshop hosted by CEPT (European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations), focusing on the growing global challenge of telecom fraud.

Tackling Fraud at the Source

Ger joined a panel of telecom operators, technology providers, regulators, and policy influencers to address one of the most critical issues in the wholesale telecom space: fraud prevention. Representing iCONX, Ger highlighted how our innovative, customer-centric approach is delivering real-world impact in detecting and combating voice fraud.

“Our focus is on enabling operators to act in real time with AI-enhanced detection and analytics, backed by third-party threat intelligence,” Ger noted during the session. “This isn’t just about systems—it’s about working hand-in-hand with our customers to create proactive defense strategies.”

By applying machine learning to vast datasets of wholesale voice traffic, iCONX is identifying fraud faster and more accurately than ever before.

Key Topics from the Workshop

  • Emerging Threats and AI-Based Detection: Ger presented on how iCONX integrates advanced technologies for real-time monitoring, ensuring operators stay one step ahead of fraudsters.
  • Cross-Industry Collaboration: The workshop emphasized the need for strong alliances between operators, vendors, regulators, and government bodies to tackle fraud at scale.
  • Shared Intelligence: Building defenses powered by data-sharing and open collaboration was a recurring theme—aligning perfectly with iCONX’s proactive fraud prevention ethos.

A Call to Collaborate

The CEPT Fraud 2024 Workshop served as a critical platform for aligning the industry around smarter, faster, and more collaborative approaches to fraud prevention. iCONX’s participation reflects our ongoing commitment to securing the global telecom ecosystem—especially as wholesale fraud techniques grow more complex.

“We’re grateful to CEPT for the opportunity to share, learn, and contribute. Together, we can rebuild public trust and defend the value of secure voice services,” shared Ger Ryan.

As the workshop concluded, one clear message stood out: fraud doesn’t respect borders, and neither should our response. From regulators to telcos, collective action is essential to protect the integrity of global communication networks.
