Specialist wholesale billing and routing optimisation solutions vendor iCONX solutions has announced it is the first company in Ireland to be approved for BS10012 certification.

This pioneering certification (BS 10012:2017) is a specification for a personal information management (PIM) system, with its latest version updated fully to account for GDPR requirements.

iCONX initially passed its Stage One audit in March 2018, before further completing Stage Two in April 2018. The iCONX BS10012 certification is valid for 3 years from May 2018.

The new standard is a key measure underpinning the ability of a data processor such as iCONX to comply with GDPR. It is expected in time to become the ISO standard for Personal Information Management across Europe.

Speaking for iCONX, Director of Interconnect Services Sacha Jones commented : “We are delighted to be the first organisation in Ireland to receive this new certification. iCONX takes its responsibilities as a Data Processor extremely seriously – now more than ever a vital consideration in a GDPR world”.

GDPR, which was approved by the European Parliament in 2016 and became active on 25.05.18, strengthens the rights of European citizens and residents to control how their personal data is managed by organisations. iCONX has implemented a thorough and comprehensive package of governance measures aimed at ensuring it fully complies with the GDPR, including ISO27001, ISO22301, secure file transfer, and the guarantee of a 100% EU-based data hosting and support operation.

All worldwide iCONX ASP customers, both within and beyond the EU, benefit from a fully GDPR compliant data processing service.
