The live date for the BT EBC Evolution has been and gone – but how ready are you?

Under Ofcom direction the method used in calculating bills to and from BT for Number Translation Services (NTS) has been changing. The bad news for operators is that an already complex process just got even more complicated!

Any carrier billing these services needs to alter their billing system so that it can work out the distance the call has travelled. To complicate the issue further, the information provided from the switch records is not enough to bill BT and extra information provided by BT is necessary to allow adjustments to the bill.

If all that wasn’t enough, the awkward process of uploading files will now have to be done on a monthly basis, rather than the previous quarterly frequency.

Changes have been implemented progressively since November 2005. Failing to deal with the new structural changes will result in bills being rejected by BT, and hence substantial losses in revenue for operators.

As ever, i-conX are reassuring operators that it’s not too late.

With the correct advice and guidance, systems can be put in place to deal with the new regulations and produce accurate bills, in the appropriate format.
