Return to Russia
i-conX were one of just five companies selected to represent Irish industry at a high-profile Moscow trade presentation earlier this summer.
Hosted at the Irish Embassy in Moscow, this prestigious 4-day event was organised by Enterprise Ireland, the official body responsible for encouraging Irish industry to compete in the global marketplace and was hosted by Irish Trade Minister Michael Ahern.
Attending was a specially invited audience of over 100 major CIS and East European businesses, including telcos and system integrators, keen to see what the cream of Irish IT expertise could offer to this dynamic, emerging capitalist market.
A busy first day for i-conX saw COO BRENDAN ROGAN address the audience with a special seminar presentation, which looked at specific issues impacting on the Russian market as it enters the liberalisation phase.
“In some ways, it’s a nostalgia trip for me – seeing all the same issues we struggled with in the UK 15 years ago begin to surface again in a different market”, commented Brendan.
“Russian telcos aren’t stupid – far from it! They want to exploit our knowledge to get the smoothest, most-profitable ride through the liberalisation jungle, and we’re only too happy to help them get it right”.
The CIS market is also moving to the Caller-Pay structure, which creates its own complex interconnect challenges to be solved.
The final three days saw i-conX involved in a hectic round of private presentations to telcos keen to find out more from the i-conX team, which also included Hugh Christey, Sacha Haniver and Mike Tuohy.
Speaking for Enterprise Ireland, Maria Shipkova pronounced herself delighted with the event. “It was a significant step forward for all the companies involved and iconX have played an important part in helping to introduce hi-tech products to the Russian market.”
