i-conX played a key role at the 2007 regional TMF Forum for Eastern Europe, this year co-located within the prestigious telecoms event TeleEvo07 in Moscow, organised by telecoms consultants Ernst & Young.

Over four intensive days, 210 industry delegates enjoyed a wide ranging agenda of presentations, workshops and interactive panels across a range of topics. i-conX CEO Martin Browne received lead billing as Monday and Tuesday focused on a two-day “Interconnect Billing overview”, designed to give participants at all levels an accessible introduction to the specialist workd of interconnect.

Delegates attending included long distance, international and mobile operators, including Golden Telecom, Transtelecom, Rostelecom, Vimpelcom and MTS, as well as further representation from both zonal and local telco marketplaces.

“The workshops are a great way of imparting key information to a broad audience, whilst enabling us to address and interact with individual issues that have real meaning to delegates, on a one to one basis”, explained Martin.

“Russia is a market in rapid transition, with the 2006 developments now impacting on the business and technical cases for interconnect billing”.

Martin also participated in a panel session examining issues and challenges for next generation networks (NGNs) which created interesting debates upon future charging and reconciliation strategies for operators.

i-conX representatives also provided demonstrations of the i-conX v7 interconnect billing system at the TeleEvo07 exhibition area, which featured over 20 booths from leading carriers and vendors.

Speaking for i-conX, Customer Relationship Manager Michelle Dervan commented : “The push towards liberalisation of international traffic, combined with a domestic interconnect model that demands more complex interactions between carriers, have all served to push interconnect increasingly into ‘front of mind’ for Russian telcos”.

Michelle, a fluent Russian speaker who has lived and worked in Moscow, also reports : “It is exciting to see the energy and confidence in the Russian telco marketplace, which is moving forward dramatically in the wake of new legislation”.

“Margins of error formerly thought acceptable no longer provide the comfort that growing telcos need, as competitive conditions get tougher”.

Attending for i-conX were CEO Martin Browne, VP Marketing Gavin Stewart and Customer Relationship Manager Michelle Dervan.
