i-conX at Bakutel 2006
Over 120 exhibitors from around the world featured at this major event held in Baku, Azerbaijan (3rd-6th October 2006).
And for our first ever exhibition in Azerbaijan, i-conX enjoyed a starring role in proceedings linking up with event partner and lead sponsor Catel for the duration of the event. CEO Martin Browne, VP Sales Hugh Christey and Azeri Project Manager Elchan Gassanov fielded a steady stream of enquiries over an exhausting four days.
Highlights included a VIP day featuring a personal visit from Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, and as well as numerous meeitngs with regional Operators the i-conX team were privileged to meet Mr. Iltimas Mammadov from the Azeri Ministry of Communications.
Azerbaijan enjoys 32% mobile penetration, currently growing at 54% per annum. Rapid growth led to the Government issuing two new licenses ahead of schedule in late 2005, and with 4 mobile operators now competing for business the growth in 3G coverage and added value services is explosive.
Azerbaijan boasts a stable international profile with significant strategic investments underway in both oil and telecommunications sectors.
