i-conX into Africa
i-conX played a key role in IIR’s 2007 conference "Billing Africa" as exhibitor, demonstrator and provider of an all-day workshop hosted by CEO Martin Browne, with support from the marketing team of Gavin Stewart and Michelle Dervan.
Held in Cape Town, SA from 3rd to 7th September, this was a lively and interesting five day event attended by a wealth of delegates from all over the continent of Africa.
The first two days saw speakers discussing the issue of how to maximise profit in emerging African markets through the optimisation of billing, accounting and CRM strategy.
The latter half of the week looked at themes of revenue assurance and more specifically, how to minimise revenue leakage through effective revenue assurance and fraud management.
In between the two conference segments, i-conX CEO Martin Browne was invited to lead a full day workshop on the theme ‘Interconnection Explained’. During this mid week workshop, attended by over 30 delegates, Martin shared his long and varied experience in the sphere of interconnect, giving his audience a forum to discuss and share any current issues faced in their own interconnect billing and accounting.
Comments from those attending the workshop – which registered a 100% delegate satisfaction rating – centred on insights into upcoming challenges and industry trends, revenue assurance issues, and welcome examples of arbitrage, with one delegate noting : "I learnt that most of the interconnection problems we experience are actually found all over the world – but there are no clear answers for interconnection problems, as it all depends on the situation".
Within the African telecoms market, interconnect is being highlighted more and more as a major source of revenue leakage.
Customer Relationship Manager Michelle Dervan also hosted demonstrations of the i-conX system to present the various functionalities designed specifically to allow operators full control over all aspects of their interconnect business, and avoid the problems of revenue leakage.
