GSM-3G Middle East : Ireland steps ahead
Visitor levels continued to rise as this year’s GSM-3G Middle East attracted over 2000 delegates and exhibition attendees to DICC, Dubai, UAE (2-3 Sept 07).
This year, interconnection played a key role in proceedings, for the first time enjoying its own dedicated conference stream. Keynote speeches included operator presentations from UAE second operator du, international carrier BICS, Syriatel, and fast growing Iranian mpbile operator MCCI.
A distinguished panel also considered the challenges of developing successful interconnection agreements in the region, and contributors ably reflected the growing profile of interconnection at the heart of telco business development in MENA.
i-conX VP Marketing Gavin Stewart and UAE Project Manager Sue Ward were kept busy at the i-conX exhibition area, this year incorporated within the "Irish Pavilion" as part of a major co-ordinated Enterprise Ireland initiative.
Irish Minister for Trade, John McGuiness, also met with i-conX representatives on day 2, as part of the Ireland’s continuing commitment to business development in the region.
Speaking for i-conX, VP Marketing Gavin Stewart commented : "i-conX now enjoys a well-established footprint in the Middle East. Our regular attendance at such events allows us to connect with our growing customer base, as well as seeking new relationships with regional operators and carriers".
